BTG Open Refrigerated

Chilled food, ready to grab.

The BTGOR is a freestanding commercial open-front refrigerated display cabinet designed for chilled food that customers can choose and take for themselves.

Two shelves plus the base create three merchandising levels for sandwiches, salads, drinks, desserts, prepared meals and other refrigerated food-to-go, while the open front keeps customer access simple.

Available in 600mm, 900mm and 1200mm widths, with rear hinged doors for staff access, BTGOR combines self-service refrigeration with the BTG format.

Take a step out of the sale.

No waiting for someone to open the cabinet. No extra step at the counter. BTGOR puts chilled food within reach so customers can make the choice and keep moving.

Open access

Customers can reach chilled products directly from the front without waiting for staff service.

Three merchandising levels

Two shelves plus the base give operators space to separate meals, snacks, drinks and other chilled products.

Restock from behind

Rear hinged doors give staff access for replenishment without needing to work from the customer side of the display.

Open refrigerated display

Self-service without turning the whole space into a multideck.

Not every grab-and-go offer needs a full-height refrigerated multideck. BTGOR provides open-front refrigerated access in the lower BTG format, giving operators another way to bring self-service chilled food into the customer-facing space.

It works particularly well for food-to-go ranges where customers need quick access to sandwiches, salads, drinks, desserts and prepared meals without the display dominating the wider counter area.

For businesses building a larger or higher-volume refrigerated grab-and-go offer, a full-height multideck may provide more merchandising capacity.

Grab-and-go

Good grab-and-go removes the hold-up.

The job is simple: keep suitable food chilled, make the range easy to understand, and let customers take what they want without slowing the service around them.

That makes open refrigerated display useful in convenience, café and food-to-go environments where customers are often buying quickly and moving on.

Where it works

For places where customers serve themselves.

BTGOR suits sites where chilled food needs to be available without making every purchase part of a staffed service interaction.

The BTG approach

Open when the customer is ready.

BTGOR removes the front barrier while keeping staff access at the rear, creating a refrigerated display that works from both sides of the cabinet.

Customer access in front. Restocking behind. Chilled food in between.

FAQs – Open-Front Refrigerated Display Cabinets

What is an open-front refrigerated display cabinet used for?

An open-front refrigerated display cabinet holds chilled food and drinks while allowing customers to access products directly from the front. It is commonly used for self-service, grab-and-go and food-to-go retail.

Is an open refrigerated cabinet suitable for grab-and-go food?

Yes. Open refrigerated displays work well for grab-and-go because customers can see and select chilled food without opening a door or waiting for staff assistance.

What food can be displayed in an open-front refrigerated cabinet?

Suitable products can include sandwiches, wraps, salads, drinks, desserts, prepared meals and other chilled food-to-go that requires refrigerated holding.

What is the difference between an open-front cabinet and a refrigerated multideck?

Both can provide direct customer access to chilled products, but the format and capacity can differ. A full-height multideck generally provides more vertical merchandising space, while a lower open-front cabinet can suit sites where a smaller self-service refrigerated display is required.

Are open refrigerated displays suitable for convenience stores and service stations?

Yes. They are well suited to convenience and fuel retail where customers often want quick access to sandwiches, drinks, prepared food and other chilled products without waiting for staff service.

What temperature should an open refrigerated food display operate at?

Required temperatures depend on the food and applicable food-safety requirements. BTGOR operates at 3–5°C.

What size open refrigerated display cabinet should I choose?

The right size depends on available space, product range and expected sales volume. BTGOR is available in 600mm, 900mm and 1200mm widths.

Why is rear access useful on an open refrigerated display?

Rear access allows staff to replenish and organise the cabinet from behind, while customers continue to access products from the front. This can help keep restocking separate from the customer flow.
